On 8 Feb 2016, my husband Tom went to sleep for the night perfectly normal and the next morning he didn’t wake up.
I called the ambulance and he was taken to Gold Coast University hospital.
After many examinations and tests we were greeted with some very bad news from the doctor. Tom had had a stroke and also had a blood clot in his lung. His brain was no longer receiving the oxygen it needed and my dear husband would never be the same again IF he even survived.
After three days the doctor made the heartbreaking announcement we should turn off his life support and let Tom go in peace.
As I have always done in my times of need I turned to my faith, I went to the Greek Church of Saint Anna on the Gold Coast and talked to the priest (Fr Romanos Stergiou) to arrange my husband’s final blessing and funeral.
